More Than 100 Local Elected Officials Across SC-01 Endorse Jenny Costa Honeycutt
Mayor Cogswell: “Solving local problems takes a partner in Washington who understands how the work actually gets done on the ground. That’s why I am supporting Jenny.”
CHARLESTON, SC – Jenny Costa Honeycutt, the Republican nominee for South Carolina’s First Congressional District, announced today that she has secured the endorsements of more than 100 local elected officials from communities across the district.
The endorsements – from mayors, city council members, county officials, and state legislators – highlight Costa Honeycutt’s longstanding working relationships in the Lowcountry and her desire to fight for the issues that most impact Lowcountry communities.
“As I have said from the start of my campaign, I am running to serve the people I love and the place I call home,” said Costa Honeycutt. “Every community in the Lowcountry has its own needs, challenges, and opportunities. Serving in local government has taught me how important it is to listen to the people closest to those challenges and understand what it takes to get results. I will not have to learn on the job what the Lowcountry needs.”
Among the ten mayors endorsing Costa Honeycutt is Charleston Mayor William Cogswell, who stressed the need for a proven local problem solver in his support.
“Flooding, traffic and the cost of housing are local problems, but solving them takes a partner in Washington who understands how the work actually gets done on the ground,” said Cogswell. “Our next representative needs to understand these issues firsthand, not learn them on the job. Jenny has spent years in the details of local government, and she knows the Lowcountry because she was raised here and has served here. The Lowcountry needs someone in Congress who will show up, do the homework and deliver. Jenny Costa Honeycutt will do that, and I'm proud to support her.”
